A state forest campground in Michigan that was mothballed in 2009 could reopen under an order from the director of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), the Gaylord Herald-Times reported.

Lake Marjory State Forest Campground in Otsego Lake Township is among four campgrounds MDNR Director Keith Creagh is proposing to reopen next year.

The small, rustic campground was closed in May 2009 because of budget constraints. Water wells were capped and picnic tables and fire rings were removed.

Three other campgrounds — Twin Lakes in northern Cheboygan County, Muskrat Lake ORV camp in Oscoda County and Thunder Bay River in Alpena County — could also reopen under Creagh’s proposal to the natural resources commission.
