Heavy weekend rains flooded many low-lying areas in the mountains of North Carolina, Asheville television station WLOS reported.

Rivers, like the Tuckasegee in Swain County… rose quickly and in some spots overflowed its banks.

Residents of the Bear Hunter Campground just outside Bryson City say they had to move fast to get their campers away from the rising water.

“With us being actually on the river side, it got up behind the back of the camper. But luckily it didn't get in it before we got moved,” said resident Mike Knapp.
