Those wanting to stay in Charleston, Ore.’s RV park next year will have to shell out a few extra dollars, the Coos Bay World reported.

RV park rates will increase approximately 10 percent on Jan. 1, following a similar increase this July. At the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay’s Thursday (Dec. 19) meeting, commissioners voted unanimously to approve the rate hike.

Currently an RV hook-up is $26 daily, $140 weekly or $424 monthly. Other services that will be affected by the increase include yurts, tent spaces, storage and the dump station.

The port typically increases rates at the beginning of its fiscal year, July 1, said Elsie Hamner, port communications and community affairs manager.

“When we proposed that we had people who came in to one of our town hall meetings who are RV park tenants,” she said. “For them, they don’t like having rate increases hit in the middle of the season.”

The RV park rates are among the lowest on the coast, she said. But that presents financial problems for the port.
