County Upgrades Campground, Fees
Several recent additions and upgrades led to a new fee structure for campgrounds and other amenities at F.W. Kent Park in Johnson County, Iowa, the Iowa City Press-Citizen reported.
“These fee increases bring the F.W. Kent Park campground into a more comparable fee structure with Lake Macbride and the Coralville Reservoir,” said Brad Freidhof, one of the department’s naturalists. “Campers at F.W. Kent Park have witnessed numerous revisions the past few years with no cost increases.”
Campground fees rose from $15 to $20 at Kent Park, while camping spots at Hills Access increased from $5 or $10 to $10 or $20. River Junction went from $5 to $10.
New additions and improvements at Kent Park include Wi-Fi access throughout the campground, a playground and a Little Free Library. Numerous camping pads were upgraded with site leveling, elevated electrical service to 20-30-50 amp service and pad expansions. A storm siren and storm safe room also were added.
