Dogs One Way RV Park Lures Boomers
The love affair with dogs keeps growing.
The latest? An unusual and well-attended happy hour in a dog park is offered Thursday afternoons at Golden Village Palms RV Resort in Hemet, Calif., the Press-Enterprise reported.
At 3:30 p.m. Thursdays during the park’s busy season from October to April, the resort holds a Bark-and-Wine party in its attractively fenced dog park. Golden Village’s fun-loving traveling retirees gather by the dozens with their beloved dogs. They chat and sip boxed wine provided for free by the resort as their dogs run around the park.
It’s a weekly session of fun on a busy calendar of events at the resort largely populated with newly retired Baby Boomers from the graying rock ’n roll generation.
It was clear at the Jan. 17 Wine-and-Bark session that sipping vino and traveling with dogs both are popular aspects of the RV lifestyle.
With Baby Boomers now in their 60s, the destination motor-home facility has adapted to their generation by playing rock ‘n roll in the sound system around its pools that were upgraded to resort-like condition. Concerts by tribute bands that honor the rock music of Fleetwood Mac, Creedence Clearwater Revival and the Eagles, plus a country band playing the music of Garth Brooks, were scheduled for this winter’s snowbird season, as were contemporary jazz shows.
