Kamp Modoc, a family campground and play lake in southwestern Randolph County (Ind.) last week received a 2014 Economic Development and Growth through Entrepreneurship (EDGE) award, the Winchester News-Gazette reported.

The EDGE awards were hosted Jan. 14 by the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) and presented by Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann at the Indiana Statehouse.

Kamp Modoc was among the select group of small businesses throughout the state honored with the distinct award as an established ISBDC small business.

Jim Swift has owned and operated Kamp Modoc since 2008, supplying east central Indiana with a relaxing campground. Swift said when he first came to the East Central ISBDC in 2011, he wasn’t sure what he could accomplish but had ideas for expansion, so he got help from the state to expand.
