'Winter Texan' Trains Other Resort Guests
It’s just as important for older people to stay in shape, and that’s what Ken Kizzar emphasizes to the residents of Fun N Sun RV Resort, the Valley Morning Star of Harlingen, Texas, reported.
Kizzar, 78, is a trainer at the park’s fitness center that was refitted with new equipment in September.
“Medical facts state that 70 percent of premature deaths and aging is just related to the way you live,” Kizzar said.
Originally a Winter Texan from Oklahoma City, he and his wife Ellen have been permanent residents at Fun N Sun for 13 years.
He said the new equipment, financed by the park’s owners Encore RV Resorts, gives park residents more opportunities for healthy workouts. The gym has five new treadmills, three elliptical machines, free weights and anchor weights. Previously there were no free weights or elliptical machines. The gym has four bicycles. Two of them are new.
Now Kizzar is holding classes every Thursday to teach residents how to use the equipment.
“I teach people how to use the machines, how to use them safely, correctly, and answer any questions,” he said.
