An Arizona RV park is well on its way to beating last year's charitable donations after a couple of events to benefit a local food bank, the San Pedro Valley News-Sun reported.

“Songs and Stories Around the Campfire,” was the title of a concert held in the SKP Saguaro RV Park in Benson on Feb. 1. “We sang songs about the things we love the most – our family, the mountains, our farm and beautiful Arizona” said Steve Berg, SKP resident. “All the donations of food and money from the concert will be given to the local food bank."

Chuck Divine, park volunteer, said, “In 2013 the SKP Saguaro RV Park donated 2,657 pounds of food and $641 to the local food bank. We are hoping to give even more this year. So far this year we have had a polar bear party that raised $245 and now this concert raised $283. In both instances we took hundreds of pounds of food to the food bank as well.”

Carol Melander, who heads up one of the park's fundraising committees, said, “We have a number of fundraisers in our park for other worthy causes in the Benson area. A number of musicians in our park, helped to raise $3,249 for the Benson foster kids and special needs adults. Then we have a party to wrap the gifts for them for Christmas.”
