Calif. Park's Fashion Show Was A Hit
The days of the annual swimsuit luncheon may be over at the Sunbeam Lake RV Resort in Seeley, Calif., but a fledgling fashion show looks to have become its perfect replacement, the Imperial Valley Press reported.
A packed clubhouse on Wednesday (Feb. 12) offered plenty of proof that the first-time event was truly a crowd pleaser.
“The success of it exceeded my expectations,” said Nancy Waddell, a resort guest and the show’s organizer.
The idea for the event first sprouted about three years ago, Waddell said, and took about six months to organize. Its success was the result of some trial and error, as well as the generous cooperation of the local Macy’s department store.
A total of eight models strutted their stuff on the makeshift catwalk, each donning three different outfits for the crowd of about 160 people. A salad buffet was provided with the $7 entry ticket, which also included a raffle ticket and a chance to win a Macy’s gift basket.
Proceeds from the event will go toward the planning of more activities at the resort. During the winter, the resort is home to more than 300 women, at least half of which Waddell was confident would attend.
