Linn County, Ore., has offered to buy Edgewater RV Resort and Marina on Foster Reservoir for $775,000.

The 49-space RV park and 48-slip marina opened in 2010 and is in bankruptcy, the Albany Democrat-Herald reported.

Linn County Parks Director Brian Carroll has been negotiating for several weeks with attorneys representing OSU Federal Credit Union, which holds a note on the property.

“This would allow us to keep a valuable asset in operation on Foster Reservoir,” Carroll said. “We believe this can be a successful operation for Linn County Parks and Recreation and allow us to expand our services there.”

County Commissioner Will Tucker said he sees the potential purchase as a way to “retain valuable services that would close without us.”

Nyquist said if the county’s offer is accepted, past business records indicate the business should be able to pay for itself over a 10-year period.

Linn County already has staff working at nearby Sunnyside and Lewis Creek parks. Carroll said he believes minimal additional part-time summer help would be needed to run the operation.
