Residents of western Flagler County may once again have access to a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, but they’ll have to share it with visitors out for a country drive.

The Flagler County, Fla., Commission on Monday approved leasing the restaurant at Bull Creek Campground and Park to JMC Food Company, a partnership between Joe Rizzo and Matt Crews, owners of the local Woody’s Bar-B-Q, and Chris Zwirn, a former district manager for three Wendy’s restaurants in Flagler County, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported.

Woven into the lease agreement is the operation of the bait shop and the potential for eco-tourism ventures, such as renting kayaks.

JMC plans to do business as the Bull Creek Fish Camp Restaurant, Bait & Tackle.

Crews said by phone after Monday’s meeting that the goal is to “make the restaurant its own destination.”

The restaurant will likely open in late April or early May, Crews said, and employ between 10 and 15 people. A sample menu, “which is pretty well set,” will include standard breakfast fare along with venison stew, oyster po’ boys, crawfish, and a “low country boil,” along with fish, steaks, hamburgers and salads.

“We wanted to serve more than the fried fish generally served at fish camps,” Crews said.
