Major Development Includes RV Park
Although construction isn’t expected on the Stonewater Ranch development until next year, the owner of the project expects Yellowhead County, Alberta, will benefit greatly, the Edson Leader reported.
“This project has enormous potential for the county,” said John Osborne, who appeared at the council meeting Feb. 18.
The future development, located just west of Edson, has been in the planning stage since 2009. An 18-hole golf course, single-family manor estate homes and a recreational vehicle (RV) resort park are just some of the projects planned that should prove beneficial for Stonewater, Osborne said.
“We feel the [proposed Edson Regional] airport is an important factor. And the new hospital gets us excited.”
County council approved the Stonewater Ranch land use plan in 2009.
An equestrian facility is also planned for the future development.
Mayor Gerald Soroka was concerned about standards at the future RV resort. Osborne assured Soroka that the RV resort would be based on the bare land condominium concept and there would restrictions on the type of RVs allowed into the park. Only newer-type RVs would be allowed in, he said.
The park would have up to 309 lots.
