Bristol Campground Expecting Cold For Race
David Head and his wife thought they were escaping the cold Sunday, when they packed up and left Indiana for Tennessee and a campground next to Bristol Motor Speedway, the Bristol Herald Courier reported.
Unfortunately, the cold appears to be following them.
“We have to get outside today,” Head said in front of his camper Tuesday at the All American Campground. “It’s gonna be like 70 degrees today, and then cold.”
Head is from Indianapolis, where he said this winter has been just miserable. He has been watching the forecast and knew that it was going to get colder while he was camping so he came prepared with a load of campfire wood.
“We set up a big fire pit,” said Head, who has been coming to both Bristol races for 15 years. “Everybody comes around the fire and tells stories.”
Today, a strong cold front is expected to move into the region, bringing sharply colder temperatures and possibly a little snow today into Thursday.
