One local businesswoman in Canon City, Colo., is learning how to make the best of a tough situation after a fire-caused closure of the Royal Gorge Bridge last summer impacted her business, according to the Pueblo Chieftain.

Sylvia Davids and her husband Larry Hill own the Starlite Classic Campground on the top of Eight Mile Hill, where bridge tourists often stay overnight. The couple make good use of Hill’s Retro Restoration classic campers for those who want a throwback experience or rent spots for modern RVs.

“We had an awesome group last year who came to our aid and emailed all our former guests and encouraged them to come see us again. It didn’t repair all the damage, but it was so heartwarming and we were touched,” Davids said.

Now she's supplementing income with jewelry which allows people to "wear" bits of the bridge.
