County Planners Deadlock On Campground

After taking a month to study the issue, the Pittsylvania County Planning Commission deadlocked on a proposed campground at Smith Mountain Lake Tuesday night (March 11), the Smith Mountain Eagle of Wirtz, Va., reported.

The planning commission held a public hearing and voted unanimously in February to postpone a decision until March.

Smith Mountain Dock and Lodge wants to rezone 8.82 acres in three parcels for a campground.

Built in the 1960s, Smith Mountain Dock and Lodge was sold to a group of North Carolina investors in 2006 after four decades Rick and Holly Munson’s family.
