Feds May Close Some Campsites
The Ashley National Forest will hold four public meetings on a proposal to decommission a dozen recreation sites on its Vernal and Flaming Gorge ranger districts, the Associated Press reported.
Officials say the sites were chosen because of their limited use by the public or the fact they’re aging. They’re trying to reduce the recreation infrastructure to bring it in line with projected budget and personnel levels.
The sites under review are Upper Marsh Creek, Long Park, Greendale Campground, Antelope Flat Campground, Skull Creek Campground and Oaks Park Campground.
The others are Red Canyon Campground, Sheep Creek Bay Campground, Red Spring Campground, Kaler Hollow, Navajo Cliff Picnic Site and Lucerne Group Campground.
Sites range from Sweetwater County, Wyoming, to Daggett and Uintah counties in Utah.
