The New York Kampgrounds of America (KOA) Owners Association recently launched a new website, designed and hosted by Pelland Advertising, according to a written announcement.

The new site — built using a new single-page responsive format — is a cost-effective, interactive alternative to the old static site that it replaced. The graphically intensive site depicts a local tourist attraction near every New York KOA campground.

Cathy Reinard of Copake KOA was charged by the association with the task of finding a new website developer to build the new site.

According to Reinard, “It was a no-brainer to want Pelland Advertising to work on the project, since they had just redesigned the website for our own park. That project went on to win the Best Website award at the 2013 CONY (Campground Owners of New York) Convention. The question was whether or not we could design something attractive, informative and actually useful within our limited association budget. Pelland Advertising did an amazing job, producing an incredible launch pad to our own individual websites, as well as a site that can help visitors to discover new places to explore throughout the state of New York.”

The new site includes embedded Google mapping, a random presentation of listings that includes one featured park (keeping the presentation dynamic and preventing any park from having an ‘alphabetical’ advantage over others), links to each park’s reservation engine on the KOA website, links to each park’s website (where applicable), and a tool that allows visitors to directly contact either individual or multiple properties. According to the project’s lead architect, Joshua Pelland, “We needed to keep costs down while presenting content in a concise manner. This is why we decided to build the interface around a single-page design. The site also utilizes a content array rather than a database to present the listings, significantly reducing development costs. It is our hope this format may be used as a template for other KOA state associations.”

With that goal in mind, Pelland Advertising is now one of the newest associate members of the KOA Kampground Owners Association.
