Pressure from area landowners was apparently the chief reason a developer backed out of a deal to build an RV park near Pelican Lake, Minn., according to a report in the Pelican Rapids Press.

Scott Olson withdrew his proposal to buy the Rolling Hills Golf Course and convert it into an RV park just hours before a scheduled March 6 formal hearing. Olson and his wife had spent at least $15,000 working on the project.

Attorneys for the Pelican Lake Property Owners Association sent Olson a 17-page letter detailing the group’s concerns with the project.

Golf course owner Cyril Flem had been hoping for the deal to go through, but said he will likely go back to work at the course rather than search for another buyer.
