Campers will have to pay slightly higher rates at New Lake Campground, members of Oakland City, Ind.'s city council decided, the Princeton Daily Clarion reported.

Parks director Phil Young said that in order to improve amenities over the next few years, rates have to be raised and money saved.

Young is making way for a shower house on the campgrounds, but he says he realizes it could take several years to get to that point.

Rates vary depending on just where and how one plans to camp. For example, rates range from $18 per night (previously $15 per night) or $300 per month and $20 per night and $400 per month depending on whether you camp with electricity or primitive.
