Minn., N.D. State Parks Trending Upward

Officials with the North Dakota and Minnesota state park systems said visitations have been trending upward the past few years, though they said fickle weather can turn a promising summer season into a snoozer, Prairie Business magazine reported. In 2008, there were 815,185 visitors counted at North Dakota’s 13 state parks. With jam circles breaking out everywhere across the Elkview Campground outside Sturgis, S.D., the 34th Annual Black Hills Bluegrass Festival was something of a finger-picking hit on Saturday (June 28), the Rapid City Journal reported. Storm Hurts Three At Mo. Campground

Three people were injured Saturday afternoon (June 28) in McDonald County, Mo., by a downburst, according to Gregg Sweeten, emergency management director, the Joplin Globe reported. The three were in the Shady Beach campground along the Elk River near Noel when the storm came through about 4:30 p.m., downing trees and snapping a couple of power poles. “We had quite a few trees down. Vicki Otto’s aunt and uncle asked for her help in putting together a fundraiser. Mike and Lorrie Niese own Huggy Bear Campgrounds in Middle Point, Ohio.
