Wounded warriors fishingRVC Outdoor Destinations, a leading provider of high-quality outdoor vacation properties in the United States, has partnered with Wounded Warrior Fishing to host its 2014 Wounded Warrior Weekend at Live Oak Landing, an RVC site in Freeport, Fla.

Local fishing guide and wounded warrior Mark McDuffie of Wounded Warrior Fishing and his partner Jeep Sullivan of Jeep Sullivan’s Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures teamed up to create special events to benefit wounded warriors. The two combine both fishing and hunting opportunities in great environments that foster new friendships and camaraderie, according to an announcement from RVC.

McDuffie and Sullivan hosted eight Wounded Warriors and their families for a weekend retreat at Live Oak Landing Sept. 26-27. RVC Outdoor Destinations donated accommodations for the families, Bass Pro Shops provided a fried catfish dinner, Hub City Bassmasters provided bass boats and crew for each of the Warriors, and Jeep Sullivan hosted air boat rides along Black Creek.

In addition to the new Wounded Warrior Fishing program, RVC, based in Memphis, Tenn., offers discounts to active and retired military members on lodging, and several RVC properties offer a free RV site rental for active servicemen and servicewomen. RVC locations individually raise money for regionally based military charities through their own events and fundraisers throughout the year.

“The RVC team is committed to giving back in as many ways as we can. We are extremely thankful to all of those who serve, and have served, in our military, especially those who have been wounded in action. This is the least we can do and we are honored to be a part of these great events,” said Andy Cates, RVC Outdoor Destinations CEO and general partner.

In addition to hosting two wounded warrior events at Live Oak Landing, RVC has raised funds from its four Rollin’ imageRumble Motorcycle Rallies at Pine Mountain RV Resort in Georgia that have been donated to Our Fallen Soldier and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
