Storms Collapse Building At RV Park

One of two adjoining buildings that were built in the early 1900s collapsed at least in part as a result of a heavy rainstorm that hit Clifton, Ariz., early last week, the Eastern Arizona Courier reported. The collapsed building is one of two on the Clifton House RV Park property on U.S. 191, adjacent to the Rode Inn Motel. Campgrounds in the Williams and Tusayan Ranger Districts of the Kaibab National Forest in Arizona close today (Sept. 30) for the winter season, the Williams News reported. The last night to camp at Dogtown Lake Campground and White Horse Lake Campground in the Williams Ranger District and in the upper loops of Kaibab Lake campground is tonight. Grand Canyon North Rim Winds Down

Grand Canyon north rim operations in Arizona will begin seasonal shutdown of most visitor services Oct. 16, the Payson Roundup reported. The north rim will remain open to visitors, closing for winter Dec. 1 or until snow closes State Highway 67 leading into the park. Montana Rec Sites Close For The Winter

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Butte Field Office for Montana (BLM) has begun winterizing its recreation sites on Holter and Hauser lakes north of Helena and along the Big Hole River south of Butte, the Great Falls Tribune reported.
