Flooding Washes RVs Away At Texas Park

The Bandera County (Texas) Sheriff’s Office got to work evacuating people from parts of the county at 2 a.m. Sunday (May 29), television station KENS reported. The sheriff’s office beckoned people to get to higher ground as flood waters rose overnight quickly. Steuben County, N.Y., and the southern Finger Lakes region in particular have become a haven for campers, with more options than ever before, the Evening Tribune reported. Manager Dies Doing Ind. Campground Work

A campground manager died after being pinned underwater beneath his tractor Friday night (May 27) in Greendale, Ind., radio station WSCH reported. Glenn Burris, 46, of Aurora, worked at Horseshoe Campground in Greendale. The property – visible from Interstate 275 in Dearborn County – is a popular spot for campers in the spring and summer. April RV Shipments Up 4.5%, YTD Up 9.5%

Total shipments to retailers were reported at 40,064 units in the April survey of manufacturers conducted by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), 4.5% greater than this same month last year. Year-to-date total RV shipments have reached 148,259 units this year, the best start to any year since 2006 and the second-best start since 1977. An RV park west of Edmonton, Alberta, has become a little Fort McMurray, CBC News reported. High waters along the Elkhorn River left some businesses around Elkhorn, Neb., out to dry this Memorial Day weekend, television station KETV reported. New RV Resort Planned For Savannah, Ga.

A 105-acre RV resort and campground is coming to the Savannah, Ga., area, television station WTOC reported. CreekFire Motor Ranch will be located right off Interstate 95 on Fort Argyle Road and will open in summer 2017. The owner says it is designed to appeal to local and regional campers, as well as die-hard travelers.
