Covington County (Ala.) commissioners unanimously approved $10,000 in reimbursement funds for Point A park operators for capital improvements on Tuesday (Jan. 10), the Andalusia Star-News reported.

Chairman Greg White said Point A Park operator Eric Johnson is helping the county fulfill its obligation to PowerSouth for taking care of the park.

“Seven or so years ago, we entered a contract with another party for the campground and swimming area,” he said.

Last year, Johnson took over as operator and has made capital improvements to the bathhouses at the campground.

“Eric was invited to submit bills to us,” White said. “He submitted over $20,000 in bills. Our contract does not require we pay them.” However, White proposed that they give Johnson a $10,000 cash reimbursement and commit some $6,000, with hopes of matching funds from PowerSouth over the next 12 months.
