Five Days In, Flooding Closes Iowa Campground
A Dubuque, Iowa, campground is closing due to flooding, radio station KDTH reported.
City officials said Miller-Riverview Park and the park’s campground are being closed until further notice because of high waters on the Mississippi River.
According to the National Weather Service, the Mississippi River level at Lock and Dam 11 has risen to 11.4 feet as of this morning (April 20). The waters are expected to rise to 13.2 feet by Saturday night before beginning a slow recession.
It’s not yet known when the river should fall below its current level. The campground at Miller-Riverview just opened for the season last weekend.
Campers who had made reservations at the park will have their fees refunded.
