Hot, Sunny Summer Assist Manitoba Campground

The camping season is slowly drawing to a close as fall weather begins to set in, but the Altona Campground, in Manitoba, saw its share of activity this summer, thanks in part to dry, hot and sunny weather.

“We were pretty much full every weekend through July and the majority of August,” said Recreation Director Ron Epp.

According to Pembina Valley Online, he added that 40% to 45% of campers were coming from the Winnipeg area, while the remaining 60% were coming from the rest of southern Manitoba and beyond.

“Certainly baseball tournaments bring them from further afield,” he said.

Epp noted there were 384 camping reservations made this summer, ranging from a one night stay to two weeks.

“We see all shapes and sizes; campers, fifth-wheels, motorhomes, tents. We see it all,” he added.

The Altona Campground offers 30 fully serviced sites and Epp says, for the most part, this seems to meet most needs throughout the season.
