Surrounded by Burlington RV employees in front of the donated camper are Micus family members.

Words cannot measure the impact that the generosity of strangers has had on the Micus family.

According to Lake Geneva Regional News, in August a flash fire inside James and Becca Micus’ camper injured Becca and two of their children, Bella and Jase.

As word of the incident traveled, support rolled in, and on Sept. 3, the Bloomfield family received a new camper from Burlington RV, of Sturtevant, Wisc., during a benefit at the Pub N Grub.

“Our lives are changed for just having the camper now,” said James Micus.

The camper was given to them after family friend Stephanie Warner read statements to each of the Micuses at the benefit. The family was led to the parking lot where they were presented with the gift.

Pastor Brian Metke, of Trinity Church in Pell Lake, Wisc., led a blessing of the camper.

Metke said later the family was overwhelmed with tears and smiles.

“For some of the family, it was difficult to enter the new RV,” he said.

The pastor suspected that memories of the fire may have been still fresh in the minds of some Micus family members.

“But it only took a minute or so for them to overcome their hesitation and express their happiness,” he said.

Tim and Brenda Wegge, owners of Burlington RV, decided to postpone their own camping trip that weekend and celebrate their wedding anniversary at the benefit.

“You just can’t replace the smiles and the looks on their faces, and the tears, the gratitude that was there,” Tim said.

In addition to the camper, the Wegges also gave 4-year-old Jase a toy camper and a child-sized chair.
