800-Acre Va. Club Selling 6,000 Year-Round Lots

More than 800 acres of rolling Virginia countryside have been divided into 6,000 lots that can be purchased by families looking for a year-round retreat into nature.

The Indian Acres Club of Thornburg, a private camping facility, will open a new welcome center, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. Located at 6437 Morris Rd. in Spotsylvania County, the new center will provide improved information and tours for prospective buyers, according to The Free Lance-Star.

“They are deeded properties,” said Amy Lam, site control director. “Some have already been built on, some have tiny homes on them, some have campers and RVs.”

Lam said property owners can build under certain parameters. “You can only have a certain number of structures and nothing over 42-feet long,” she said.

The campground is open year ‘round, but water to individual property sites is turned off from November to March. The property has comfort stations with showers and bathrooms provided, half of which remain open all winter.
