The renovation of the new Guy Harvey Resort St. Augustine Beach in St. Augustine, Fla., costing close to $6 million, is nearing its completion, with reservations now being accepted for mid-February.

Located on the Atlantic Ocean, south of the inlet and minutes from the city’s historic downtown, the 153 room resort showcases the outdoor watersports lifestyle brand of artist, scientist and conservation advocate Guy Harvey, co-founder of Guy Harvey Resorts, according to a press release.

Owned and managed by Tampa, Fla.-based H.I. Development, the resort features a coastal vibe created by the award-winning hospitality design firm, Edge of Architecture.

Guy Harvey Resorts is a collection of independently owned resorts, lodges and travel products.

“St. Augustine Beach is a perfect intersect of land, sea and sky,” said Mark Ellert, president of Guy Harvey Resorts. “The history, gracious southern charm and amazing beach make an ideal setting for our newest beach resort destination and a fabulous complement to our growing portfolio.

“The entire redevelopment crew has worked tirelessly to ensure this is a resort that works in harmony with the distinctive seaside charm of its neighborhood and serves as a unique vacation escape for families and groups in northeast Florida,” he continued.

Firm founder Malcolm Berg notes, “Each project reflects the mindset I have with my children, always wanting to create memorable personalized connections to the real world environment that surrounds them. Here alongside one of Florida’s most dramatic dune lined beach systems, my hope is for each guest to shed their inhibitions, switch off all daily-life concerns and be present at all times, immersed in appreciating and enjoying this awe-inspiring natural environment.”

Berg entwined the outdoor adventure lifestyle of Guy Harvey with coastal St. Augustine themes, according to the release.

“Our intent has been to capture the joy of life by the seashore, an emotion common to all ages,” adds Berg.

“We are proud to unveil our spectacular, new Guy Harvey Resort Saint Augustine Beach,” said Andre P. Callen, president of HI Development, who, along with his family members, owns the hotel. “Guy Harvey’s legions of outdoor enthusiast fans align perfectly with the mindset of our guests who value family time, yet crave an adventurous lifestyle. They desire a relaxing vacation but one combined with activities that offer a meaningful appreciation of our unique coastal location.”

The resort will feature an on-site Guy Harvey Outfitter program, offering fishing, surfing, photography and other nature oriented activities, all with guides and instructors. The new Guy Harvey Grille ‘N Grog is a free-flowing dining venue that envelops the arrival area, combining indoor and al fresco patio dining and socializing with the Outfitter Shop, offering Guy Harvey sportswear and merchandise, according to the release.

“Grille ‘N Grog reflects the trend towards relaxed communal and individual dining, including a stylish new outdoor dining patio with a fire pit and live entertainment area,” adds Callen. “Grille ‘N Grog and our new Surf Shack pool bar are certain to become popular additions to the local beach restaurant scene.”

The resort’s pool patio will be expanded to add a fire pit seating area and splash pad for younger guests. Guestrooms feature new baths, furniture and tile flooring. Works of local artists and photographers will be featured prominently in the rooms and throughout the resort, complementing signature Guy Harvey art.

Considered the John Audubon of marine life illustration, the “Gallery”, a permanent exhibit of Guy Harvey illustrations celebrating local marine species and their habitats, is located at the entrance to the resort’s new ballrooms. With over 4,000-square-feet, these rooms offer stylish accommodations for corporate, social and wedding events.
