Toronto Offers Camp Experience Inside The City

You don’t need to go far to have an epic camping experience — Toronto, Ontario, has its very own campground that serves as a nearby escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The Glen Rouge Campground is a one-of-a-kind outdoor space that offers the best of both worlds: the natural beauty of a park and the comforts of urban amenities. Located just 40 minutes from the downtown core, Torontonians can have an authentic camping experience right in the city’s backyard while, being close by to popular attractions like the Toronto Zoo, Petticoat Creek Conservation Area and the Toronto Beaches, according to

The park features 125 campsites in total, including 87 serviced sites for RVs, 27 unserviced sites for a more backcountry feel, and five sites specifically for backpackers.

Throughout the area, there are washrooms, showers, firepits, and firewood and ice stocks available, which lends an added convenience to your camping experience. You can even bring up to two pets along with you, as long as they are leashed and kept under control.

This year, a new glamping option has been added to the park. Parks Canada has set up oTENTiks lodges onsite, which are tent and cabin hybrids that offer an alternative to traditional camping. Each oTENTik can accommodate up to six people and include three beds, one table, four chairs a bench and lighting.
