Alberta County Gives OK To Campground, Store

The Vulcan County, Alberta, municipal planning commission (MPC) approved development permit applications June 6 for a campground and retail store on land south of the Bow River, just west of Highway 24, according to the Vulcan Advocate.

Applicant Harry Turner intends to have five RV sites, including one for himself, for seasonal camping, said Anne Erickson, the County’s manager of development services, during the June 6 MPC meeting.

The site plan that Turner included with both applications shows that he plans to use an existing building for the store and outlines a 2,000-square-foot area for parking.

The applicant does have to sign an agreement acknowledging the building, which survived the 2013 flood, is in a flood plain, said Reeve Jason Schneider during an interview.
