One of Billings, Mont.-based Kampgrounds of Americas Inc.’s (KOA) newest campgrounds, Chincoteague Island KOA Resort is a “vacationer’s dream.” according to a bolg post written by officials at KOA.

In the past two years, the campground has undergone a $5 million renovation aimed at providing campers with a “truly premium” camping experience. But the updates don’t stop there, a $5 million water park has also opened at the campground this year.

“We couldn’t be here today without all the hard work and all the great things that everyone has done for us — everybody put in long hours and we really appreciate it,” said developer Todd Burbage. “If you camped here before, you’re going to see a big change.”

Located on 200 acres near Virginia’s Assateague channel, Chincoteague Island KOA has more than 400 campsites. Featuring new “premium” Pull-Thru RV Sites and waterfront camping, this KOA has room for all types of campers. In addition to RV and tent site improvements, the campground also added island-inspired, air conditioned Deluxe Cabins. Four of the new cabins are pet-friendly, one is hypoallergenic and one is accessible. Deluxe Cabins sleep up to seven and are fully equipped, including plates and silverware, and with cable television.

The campground’s new Safari Tents are for campers who want to be “a bit more adventurous.” Sleeping up to six, these “not-so-rustic” accommodations feature queen beds and comfortable furnishings.

“We couldn’t be here today without all the hard work and all the great things that everyone has done for us — everybody put in long hours and we really appreciate it,” said Developer Todd Burbage. “If you camped here before, you’re going to see a big change.”
