NCA Host ’18 Great Escape At Penn. Campground

The 2018 Great Escape was held at Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground.

On September 11 and 12, representatives from all nine state associations that make up the Northeast Campground Association (NCA), owners and managers from twenty-three campgrounds and several NCA business members took part in the 2018 NCA Great Escape at Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground in Ulster, Penn., according to Cyndy Zbierski, NCA’s executive director.

The event began with NCA conducting its fall business meeting, where members made plans for the future of the association.

The Great Escape included a chance for attendees to catch up with peers, witness chainsaw art demonstrations by The Sawptician, Kevin Treat, and take part in a “Paint & Sip,” that gave individuals a chance to paint their own work of art. Other activities included kayaking and a “washer board” tournament.

While rain was a factor during some activities, attendees did get the chance to tour Pine Cradle in a “convoy” of golf carts. Roger Druck, owner of the park, shared his family’s history of running the campground.

The NCA Great Escape has taken place each fall for over thirty-four years, noted Zbierski. This was the second time that the group was hosted by the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA).

With ten states currently included in the annual rotation, the 2019 NCA Great Escape will be held in Maine next fall.

The NCA is a regional association comprised of nine state associations: Maryland Association of Campgrounds (MAC), Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA), New Jersey Campground Owners Association (NJCOA), Campground Owners of New York (CONY), Connecticut Campground Owners Association (CCOA), Massachusetts Campground Owners Association (MACO), Vermont Campground Association (VCA), New Hampshire Campground Owners’ Association (NeHaCa), Maine Campground Owners Association (MECOA) and associate campground members from Rhode Island and Delaware.

It was a great time, lots of camaraderie, story telling and kindling of good old fashion friendships. Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground is breath taking, relaxing and welcoming. The Druck family were incredible hosts and did not give us a chance to even notice it was raining. .
