Fla. County Approves 125-Site RV Park Expansion

Wildwood RV Village plans to add 202 sites to accommodate customer demand.

Sumter County, Fla., commissioners Tuesday (Oct. 9) night approved the expansion of Wildwood RV Village and zoning for another campground in the Lake Panasoffkee area, according to the

Rezoning for expansion of the park, north of State Road 44 near Interstate 75, was approved earlier this year with plans to add 125 sites.

Now, the park instead wants to add 202 sites – a 60% increase – so additional county approval was required.

“The proposal is being made due to market demand,” said Karl Holley, development services director. “The proposal is within the limits of the comprehensive plan.”

Commissioner Doug Gilpin said plenty of open space is available for the expansion. Wildwood RV Village offers pull-through and back-in RV sites with 50-amp electrical service. Daily rates are $59 on weekdays and $69 on weekends. Tent sites also are available for $22 a day.
