Music Fest Cancelled, Will Impact Local Parks

With Jamboree in the Hills going on hiatus next summer, what will happen to those in Steubenville, Ohio, who relied on the country music festival’s economic impact?

Organizations and businesses, like Valley View Campgrounds, open since 1992, are worried about the future, according to WTOV.

“I saw it start out from a handful of campsites and get up to over a thousand, heck of a name and a brand there, it’s the end of an era,” said Tom Gentile, co-owner of Valley View Campground.

“Last year, I heard jamboree was 30% off in ticket sales,” he noted. “We were exactly 20% off in the campground from the prior year. The prior year we were off about 10% and I heard they were off that, so we seem to follow pretty well. It’s definitely been declining in recent years.”
