KOA July Fourth Numbers Best In 56-Year History

The 2018 Fourth of July holiday results at Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) locations were up slightly from the previous record-setting year in 2017, according to figures released today (July 13) by KOA. The recent Fourth of July holiday week, which ran from June 27 to July 8, showed an increase in occupancy of just under 1% from the same period in 2017. Arizona Casino Project Underway, 90-Site RV Park

Work officially got underway Thursday (July 12) morning on Casino Del Sol’s newest hotel in Tuscon, Ariz., according to tucson.com. The 151-room hotel, expected to be completed by the end of 2019, will feature its own pool, complete with a water slide and pool bar, as well as an arcade, lounge and fitness center. Owners Sued After Alleged Sexual Assault At Parks

The parents of two children allegedly sexually assaulted at an East Haddam, Conn., campground have filed a lawsuit against the owners, according to the Hartford Courant. The lawsuit alleges the assaults by an underage male camper occurred at the Wolf’s Den Cooperative Campground in East Haddam in July 2016 and that the owners not only knew the boy who allegedly committed the assaults had previous issues, but also moved his family from another campground they owned to Wolf’s Den a few days before... Read more

Manitoba Owner Looking To Reopen & Add 40 Sites

The current landowner of the old Country Charm Resort, near Lilac Resort in Manitoba, is hoping to reopen the resort and add a seasonal campground on the property, according to steinbachonline.com. Gus Hastmann purchased the 250 acre property about two years ago. He says he would like to reopen the 10 cabin resort and add a 40-site seasonal campground on the property to make it more viable. Flamingo Lake RV Resort has completed its first major expansion since 2009, adding 60 new, permanent sites at the popular RV venue in Jacksonville, Fla. SSI: Canada Towables Up 4.8% In First Five Months

Canadian towable sales edged up 4.8% for the first five months of 2018. According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI), results by segment showed: • Travel trailer sales gained 6.2% year-over-year through May. • Canadian fifth-wheel sales edged up 0.3% for the five months. • Folding camping trailer registrations fell 5.2% through May. • Six park model RVs were sold in May.
