In just hours, the Kelley’s home, Space 20 of Friendly Acres Mobile Home Park in Red Bluff, Calif., was fully engulfed in flames, Saturday (Nov. 28).

The Kelley family has lived in the mobile home park for three years. As of now, their focus is on searching through the rubble to find their pet cat, Lily, according to KHSL-TV, Chico-Redding, Calif.

Nine mobile homes have burned to the ground, two were damaged and one motorhome and three vehicles were destroyed. Amazingly, no one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire Battalion Chief Hunt Dennis told the TV station, “We haven’t determined an exact cause. We have a pretty good idea of the origin, but we haven’t determined the cause of the fire yet.”

Mobile home park resident Shane Kelley expressed, “I just kind of think it’s unfortunate this all happened this way. I just hope everything works out well for everyone here.”

Some residents believe a number of the homes could have been saved, had there been available water in the area. Resident Roger Herrera said, “The fire could have been out, but there was no water. The neighbor here, he could have stopped the fire on time but there was no water in the trailer park.”

All mobile home park residents had to evacuate their homes as 40 fire crew personnel extinguished the fire. Upon returning to their homes, some residents learned they had also become victims to theft.

“A lot of my stuff is missing now. They came after everybody left. They came and stole my stereo system out of my house, surround system, it’s just not right,” said Herrera.

Despite their loss, residents are trying to stay optimistic. Kelley told the TV station, “I guess it’s all in God’s hands right now.”
