Nan Kelly visits the RV Show in Hershey, Pa., for GAC telecast

The Great American Country network (GAC) visited America’s Largest RV Show, held Sept. 11–15 in Hershey, Pa., to film its “Top 20 Countdown.” According to a press release, the segment will air tonight (Sept. 20).

The Pennsylvania RV and Camping Association (PRVCA), which manages America’s Largest RV Show, was contacted by the production company the week prior to the start of the show.

“I love receiving those calls,” said Heather Leach, marketing and education director for PRVCA. “It’s always fun working with the film crews – to be able to watch them in action and then see the final product on TV is always a great experience.”

GAC along with HGTV, which film at the show every year, are both brands of Scripps Networks. “Because of our long-standing relationship with Scripps Networks and HGTV, we were excited to welcome GAC to America’s Largest RV Show,” Leach said.

GAC’s “Top 20 Countdown” is hosted by Nan Kelly. This week’s episode will feature Kelly making her way around America’s Largest RV Show checking out the latest in RVing while introducing their top 20 songs of the week.

“You will even see a few other familiar faces,” Leach says. “RV Doctor” Gary Bunzer made a special guest appearance and Leach got a few moments of airtime to discuss the details of the show. “Nan Kelly and the crew were great to work with,” Leach stated. “I enjoyed giving them a tour of the show and providing them with any information they needed about the show and RVing.”

GAC’s “Top 20 Countdown” will air at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m tonight and again on Sept. 21 at midnight, 2 a.m. and 11 a.m. For more information, visit www.gactv.com.  For more information on America’s Largest RV Show, visit www.largestRVshow.com.

Record Show

Meanwhile, the PRVCA reported that the RV show set a new attendance record as 43,768 people attended the annual event.

According to a press release, the show had over 1,200 new units on display, 188 booth vendors and 50 manufacturers covering exhibit space that surpassed 2012 by over 16%.  Compared to 2012, booth vendor space increased by 14% and manufacturer space increased by 21%.

Go RVing Partnering with Two Outdoor Networks

January 14, 2013 by · Comments Off on Go RVing Partnering with Two Outdoor Networks

During the early spring when winter-weary families begin to plan their summer vacations, Go RVing will be rolling out a 2013 partnership with the Great American Country Network (GAC) and the Outdoor Channel that will build on the two successful promotions with these networks from last year, according to a news release.

As part of the partnership, GAC will produce two 60-second spots that will be shot in late January featuring celebrity singer/songwriter Chuck Wicks. When not touring, Wicks is an avid outdoorsman and hunter, so the vignettes will promote how the RV lifestyle allows him to get away with family and friends to enjoy the outdoors, to do some hunting, relaxing and song-writing.

There was big interest among Go RVing member manufacturers to provide a loan vehicle, with 14 towable units entered in the lottery. After a random drawing, the Hyper Lite SURV by Forest River’s XLR Toyhauler Group was selected as the unit to be featured in the vignettes, which will air 1,600 times between Feb. 18 and March 30.

On the Outdoor Channel, Go RVing will again be offering a national Spring Fever Sweepstakes designed to increase the awareness and interest in RVs. This year, Outdoor Channel will create four sweepstakes vignettes featuring network talent Pat Reeve and Nicole Jones, hosts of the popular hunting show Driven, as well as angler Mark Zona who hosts Big Water Adventure.

This year’s partnership will again feature a new RV as the sweepstakes grand prize. RVIA members offered prize units and following a separate random drawing, the Outdoor Channel will award the lucky winner a Flagstaff Classic 620 ST folding camping trailer also from Forest River. The Go RVing/Outdoor Channel vignettes will air on the network over 150 times throughout the April sweepstakes promotion and will also be on OutdoorChannel.com where consumers enter the sweepstakes.

Go RVing’s first ever national RV giveaways conducted in partnership with Great American Country Network (GAC) and Outdoor Channel this spring generated significant consumer interest while also providing impressive results for the national advertising campaign, according to a news release.

The two sweepstakes combined to draw more than 811,000 entries and yielded 46,329 leads for the Go RVing effort from entrants who opted into receiving information from participating Go RVing dealers, manufacturers and campgrounds.

“The Ultimate Country Music RV Giveaway” sweepstakes with GAC offered entrants the chance to win a 2012 Lance Campers Ultralight 1685 travel trailer as the grand prize along with two VIP tickets and backstage access to the CMA Festival in Nashville in June. Running from March 1 – April 16, it drew 646,714 entrants, of which 122,376 were unique entries, and generated 23,156 opt-in leads. According to GAC, these results represent “a huge success for a custom sweepstakes.”

As part of the GAC partnership, two 60-second vignettes featuring country music artist Chuck Wicks enjoying RV getaways in the prize model Lance travel trailer aired on GAC. Go RVing also has a branded “On-The-Road-Guide to Summer Hot Spots” special section in the June People Country magazine (available on newsstand now). Featuring a country-music theme, the six-page custom section promoted the sweepstakes and RV travel. Details about the sweepstakes, Go RVing interactive banner ads, information on RVing, and the Chuck Wicks vignettes were featured on GACTV.com.

Go RVing’s “Spring Fever” sweepstakes with the Outdoor Channel attracted 165,000 total entrants, of which 31,217 were unique entries, and accounted for 23,173 opt-in leads. This contest ran through April and featured a Columbia Northwest 2012 Somerset OR12SD off-road folding camping trailer as the grand prize.

The promotion included four custom RVing vignettes featuring Outdoor Channel talent Pat Reeve and Nicole Jones, host of the hunting show Driven, and Mark Zona, host of Zona’s Awesome Fishing Show. Outdoor Channel also promoted the sweepstakes and the benefits of RV travel to audiences through outdoorchannel.com, their social media outlets, and targeted emails.

“We were very pleased with the success of our first national RV giveaway sweepstakes,” said RVIA Vice President of Public Relations and Advertising James Ashurst. “These two promotions were popular with the public and helped spread our key messages about RVing with receptive audiences. The amount of leads created by the sweepstakes was particularly encouraging.”

Lance Campers and Columbia Northwest were selected to provide the grand prize RVs through a lottery in January of RVIA members who offered a unit for the two sweepstakes.
