More than 60 Workampers gathered on March 20 at the KOA Campground in Branson, Mo., for an extensive one-day training program during the third annual KOA Work Kamper Boot Camp.

The group included both new and seasoned members of KOA’s exclusive KOA Work Kamper Program, which now has more than 1,600 active teams working at KOA campgrounds throughout North America, according to a news release.

The Branson Boot Kamp included sessions on KOA history, customer service and cleaning practices, as well as specialized training on KOA’s proprietary KampSight campground operating system.

The KOA Boot Kamp session also included a live Job Fair that included 14 KOA owners, some interviewing participants for jobs live online using Skype technology.

“The Boot Kamp’s Job Fair allows KOA campground owners and KOA Work Kampers to network, which allows for better relationship building and successful job placement,” said Jenny McCullough, director of tTraining and events for KOA. “Using Skype enhances our ability to create that face-to-face introduction, without the cost of travel for both our campground owners and Work Kampers.”

“We really enjoyed our recent KOA Work Kampers Boot Kamp experience,” said Boot Kamp participants Watson and Anne Aldridge of Pensacola, Fla. “We met people from KOA’s home office, campground owners and managers, current KOA Work Kampers, and people like us trying to decide if they want to be KOA Work Kampers. Boot Kamp answered that question for us. KOA is the brand that we are sold on, and we can’t wait until we get started.”

Through the KOA Work Kamper Program, KOA Work Kampers are able to search for available jobs at KOA campgrounds throughout North America via the www.WorkAtKOA.com website. The site allows Work Kampers to post their resumes and search all jobs posted by KOA owners. The cost of the program is $35 per year, and gives participants full access to resume management tools, job postings, online training seminars and one-site training such as Branson’s Boot Kamp. The Boot Kamps are free to all registered Work Kampers.

Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) is offering two free one-day sessions of its popular KOA Work Kamper Boot Kamp training for subscibed KOA Work Kampers, according to a news release.

The first training is scheduled for March 28 at the KOA Campground in Branson, Mo.  The training session is going forward as scheduled, despite the major tornado which hit Branson earlier this week. The tornado did not damage the KOA Campground.

The second session will be April 21 at the Santa Cruz/Monterey, Calif., KOA Campground.

“Our KOA Work Kamper Program provides our KOA owners with a well-trained, experienced work force, so keeping our Work Kampers up to date is a top priority,” said Mike Booth, assistant vice president of franchisee services for KOA.

“We train KOA Work Kampers to be fully versed in top-level customer service practices and we make them familiar with our quality and facility standards,” said Booth. “Once they become familiar with KOA’s service culture, it’s very easy for Work Kampers to move from one KOA to the next.”

A portion of the training sessions will include a “Virtual Job Fair,” where KOA Work Kampers will be able to meet via the Internet and in person with KOA owners throughout North America.

The KOA Work Kamper Boot Kamp sessions are free for subscribed KOA Work Kampers, and will include a free breakfast and lunch.
