Alert: Stolen RV May Turn Up at Florida RV Parks

A 2007 Keystone Copper Canyon travel trailer was stolen off the lot this past weekend at the Campers Inn dealership in Fruitland, Fla., just outside of Leesburg, with the VIN # 4YDT3002471530284.

Estimated time of the theft is between 6 p.m. Friday (July 1) and 8 a.m. Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to contact George Grimm at (23) 707-0389 (cell) or (35) 787-7744 (office), he reported.

According to Grimm, the theft was similar to a break-in over the Memorial Day weekend at another Florida dealership, where bolt cutters were used to gain access to the side lot of his property. It looked to Grimm, judging by the tire tracks, that the truck was headed north from the dealership.

A neighboring bank if offering access to its security cameras. “We’re just hoping to get a peripheral view from the bank cameras,” said Grimm. “We might be able to get the make and model of the truck they used to haul it.”

The stolen unit may turn up at a Florida RV park, so operators are encouraged to keep an eye out for the vehicle.

Thieves Continue Targeting Parked RVs

Burglars continue to target camper trailers at south central Pennsylvania campgrounds, according to the Lancaster New Era.

Eight camper trailers parked at the Elizabethtown-Hershey KOA Campground, 1890 Turnpike Road, Elizabethtown, were broken into sometime between May 12 and Friday evening, Northwest Regional police reported.

Thieves pried open six doors and forced open two windows to gain access to the camper trailers, police said. Three DVD players, DVDs, a leaf blower, a set of barbecue grilling tools and food were taken. Loss was estimated at $550.

In a separate incident, four RVs parked at a storage lot at 1259 Cloverleaf Road, Mount Joy, were broken into between Friday and Saturday morning, Northwest Regional police said. Doors were pried open. About $160 worth of CDs and loose change were taken.

In addition to the burglaries in West Donegal and Mount Joy townships, other camper trailers have been targeted in the last two months in West Cocalico Township and at campgrounds in the southern part of the county, police reported.
