436-Site Florida Park Project Requires State OK (1/31/2019)
Story by Woodall's Campground Management
The Auburndale (Fla.) City Commission took action Monday (Jan. 28) night toward the possible development of a 436-site RV resort, according to The Ledger.
The commission voted unanimously to transmit to the state a request for a change of land-use designation on a 63-acre property at Denton Avenue and Moss Road, slightly east of the Polk Parkway. The tract is owned by Five-Star Family Growers.
The property has a future land-use designation of regional activity center and is zoned as light industrial. The owners are seeking to have the designation changed to tourism commercial center, which would allow construction of an RV park. Because of the project’s size, such a change requires review by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
Five-Star Family Growers, a family-owned business, grows blueberries for the brand Alpine Fresh, according to its website. The property is adjacent to the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex and the USA Water Ski and Wake Sports Foundation’s proposed wake-sports complex, city records show.
