Massachusetts Project To Feature 98 Airstreams (2/11/2019)
Story by Woodall's Campground Management
A Boston, Mass.-based company is requesting a permit to build a 'glamping' park featuring 98 Airstreams and 10 canvas tents.
A 13-acre wooded site in Falmouth, Mass., that has provided a place for basic family camping for nearly 100 years is about to elevate the art of outdoor living to “glamping” — a more exclusive and “glamorous” form of camping designed predominantly for adults, according to South Coast Today.
No more hauling the camper to the site behind the family pickup truck or wrestling with tents upon arrival.
In fact, packing will be pretty much limited to groceries and the right clothing for enjoying the outdoors. Even bathrobes are provided.
Blue Flag Development LLC, based in Boston, has a purchase and sale agreement in place for the Sippewissett Campground & Cabins and has begun pursuing permits for a luxury camping complex featuring 98 Airstream rental trailers and 10 canvas tents.
AutoCamp, a San Francisco-based outdoor hospitality company with locations at Santa Barbara, the Russian River and Yosemite National Park, will be the operator, making it the organization’s first venture to the East Coast.
AutoCamp’s website urges prospective glampers to “enjoy the spirit of camping with the creature comforts of a luxury hotel.”
The Airstreams will feature kitchens, sitting areas, queen-size beds with luxurious linens and heated blankets, flat-screen televisions, sound systems and spa-type bathrooms. The trailers are equipped with central air conditioning and electric heat.
Tents will offer queen-size beds, lighting, electrical outlets, heated blankets and other amenities, including outdoor lounge areas with grills and fire pits for toasting s’mores.
The clubhouse will feature a check-in lounge, bathrooms and showers for campers in tents, a second-floor meeting space, small retail operation for convenience items and an outdoor deck with built-in hot tub.
